Co-founder of Apache Software Foundation attracts influx of talent from the open source community

Basel, Switzerland and Newport Beach, California – November 14, 2007

Day Software (SWX:DAYN, OTCQX:DYIHY), a leading provider of global content management and content infrastructure software, today announced that several leading developers and contributors from the open source community have joined the company. Day’s contributions to the Apache Jackrabbit project and its visibility to the open source community through its chief scientist, Dr. Roy T. Fielding, co-founder of the Apache Sofware Foundation, has helped to attract these thought leaders.

Joining Day as senior developers are Bertrand Delacretaz, Carsten Ziegeler, Jukka Zitting and Thomas Mueller. Bertrand Delacretaz is a member of the Apache Software Foundation and previously served as a committer in the Cocoon, FOP, Solr, Tika and Sling projects. Carsten Ziegeler is a member of the Portals PMC and is a committer and PMC member on the Apache Felix project. Carsten is playing a major role in the development of the Apache Cocoon project and is a member of the Apache Software Foundation. Jukka Zitting has ten years of experience working with open source content management, turning his focus toward content repositories after joining the Apache Jackrabbit project three years ago. Jukka is a member of the JSR 283 (JCR 2.0) expert group and the Apache Software Foundation. Thomas Mueller is the original developer of Hypersonic SQL on which HSQLDB is based, PointBase Micro, and the H2 Database Engine.

"We are extremely excited to have all of this industry talent joining our development efforts at Day. They are a tremendous addition to our team,” said David Nuescheler, CTO of Day Software. "These individuals are all veterans of the open source software industry with experience driving technical initiatives. Their commitment to innovation and operational excellence will deliver great value to our customers."

Roy T. Fielding is chief scientist at Day Software. Dr. Fielding is best known for his work in developing and defining the modern World Wide Web infrastructure as architect of the current Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP/1.1), co-author of the Internet standards for HTTP and Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), co-founder the Apache HTTP Server Project and former chairman of the Apache Software Foundation.
