Basel, Switzerland and Newport Beach, California - April 21, 2008

Day Software (SWX: DAYN, OTCQX: DYIHY), a leading provider of global content management software and content infrastructure software, will present at JAX 2008, the leading European conference for enterprise technologies and strategies, in Wiesbaden, Germany. Day will discuss technical innovations with REST, the software architecture for distributing hypermedia information systems, and AJAX, the concept of asynchronous data transmission between server and browser.

Carsten Ziegeler, senior developer for JEE and portal applications at Day Software, will give two presentations at the conference targeting developers who deal with AJAX and REST. In his seminar "The Portlet API 2.0 in Detail," Ziegeler will illustrate the possibilities of the new portlet APIs (JSR 286), showing practical examples to demonstrate detailed features such as Eventing or AJAX. In his presentation "Sling Apache - a REST-Based Web Application Framework," Ziegeler will explain Sling, a framework for content-based applications. Sling builds on the REST principle and uses OSGi, a dynamic hardware-independent software platform on which applications and services according to the SOA paradigm can be performed for flexibility and expansion. Ziegeler will demonstrate how to quickly develop applications with Sling.

"REST describes a highly-scalable architecture for Web applications, while AJAX is used to create innovative, interactive Web applications on the client side," said Ziegeler. "To approach Java Content Repositories via AJAX enables developers to access all of their organization’s content through one interface that fits very easily into interactive Web applications."

Day recently announced the JCR Cup 2008, its first annual, global competition to promote the development of content-centric applications based on the JSR 170 API for accessing the Java Content Repository (JCR). Participants can use Day’s CRX, a fully-compliant JCR content repository, based on Apache Jackrabbit and using Sling, to develop applications for blogs, wikis, business process management (BPM), multi-channel deployment, and enterprise content management (ECM). Entries must be submitted by July 31, 2008, and a panel of judges will select a winner based on originality, design, programming and proper use of the JCR. The winner will receive a 17-inch MacBook Pro.
