Compatibility testing is an essential component of the Java Community Process JCP. One of the three required pieces for each JSR is the Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK). A TCK is a suite of tests, tools and documentation that determines whether or not a product complies with a particular Java™ technology specification.

JSR 170 Content Repository for JavaTM Technology API Compliance Certification Service provides formal recognition of a supplier’s Java content repository’s conformance to the JSR 170 standard specification. This allows:
- Suppliers to make and substantiate clear claims of conformance to JSR 170
- Buyers to specify and successfully procure conformant products that interoperate

Certification Definition and Procedure
Day’s JSR 170 certification service tests and confirms a supplier's claim of their content repository conforming to the JSR 170 standard. Day uses the Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK), the test software delivered with the standard and approved by the Java Community Process, to test products against their JSR 170 conformance.
Suppliers that seek to certify their product against the standard may request Day’s certification service. Certification provides owners of a compliant system with the confidence that their product complies to an industry accepted standard.
Day works closely with the supplier throughout the certification procedure. An initial meeting to review the product to be evaluated and define the certification plan is conducted. The plan is then executed and, upon successful completion of the certification process, Day will issue a JSR 170 compliance certificate for the product and publish the supplier’s name in a publicly accessible register.
Day’s activities related to the JSR 170 certification service include:
- Processing registrations for certification
- Defining the certification plan with the supplier
- Testing product submitted for certification against compliance requirements
- Maintaining a register of products that have been successfully certified
With certification, suppliers can demonstrate to their customers that their products conform to the JSR 170 standard and that they are committed to offering standards compliant products. Buyers can be confident that the products they are purchasing are JSR 170 compliant and therefore can enjoy all the benefits of a standard Java content repository.
