The information architecture of an enterprise is fundamental to gaincompetitive advantage and make the business responsive to marketopportunities and threats. Every organization is faced with thechallenge to unearth, compile, process information in a way thatempowers employees, suppliers and partners to generate value.
Enterprise Features

The Java Content Repository standard - and the Day CRX Enterprise repository have been explicitly designed with enterprise agility in mind.
Scaling Challenge
Thanks to its low footprint setup - not requiring an application server
and relational database - the Day CRX repository allows scaling from
single-instance embedded persistence store to multi-node distributed
clusters in a high density datacenter.

Routine IT tasks, such as installation, backup/ restore, adding/ removing cluster nodes and monitoring are highly optimized to run in a 99.999% availability infrastructure while keeping labour cost to a minimum.
The proprietary TAR Persistence Manager - responsible for storing the Day CRX multi-terabyte data on low-cost disk storage - uses a unique persistence technology optimized for the JCR use case. Using the TAR file format, originally designed to efficiently store data on a tape device, provides superior performance allowing for high concurrent usage of the repository.

Efficient IT

CRX has been tested by Day’s Quality Assurance team in production
environments on multiple platforms, and is fully supported by Day’s
Global Support organization.
It can be easily and safely deployed leveraging existing IT infrastructure, such as operating systems, application servers, relational databases and directory servers (LDAP, Active Directory, etc.).
CRX comes with built-in, web-based content repository management tools. The Content Explorer provides a user friendly tool to CRX, allowing easy browse, edit and administration of the repository content. It includes an integrated solution for content package management, and bulk content import and export.

Regulatory compliance in information life-cycle management are
adequately covered thanks to the built-in versioning, tracking and
active observation of events on assets. Access-control can be delegated
to single sign-on and directory servers. Content access is secured with
Access Control List (ACL) attached to each content item (coarse- and
fine-grained) specifying users and groups allowed access to an object
and what operations can be performed.
Day CRX - the commercially packaged version of Apache Jackrabbit - is the "true" content infrastructure helping enterprises with standards-based content management and repository consolidation, with no vendor lock-in. It offers lower total cost of ownership with zero investment in relational database management system and application servers.
