SofTech 2009 Conference Focuses on New Paradigm of Cloud Computing and SaaS for Web 2.0

Fielding at SofTech 2009, the leading Italian conference covering the management and technical issues related to the future direction of enterprise IT. Dr Fielding will be joining Diego Lo Giudice of Forrester Research to deliver the keynote address, "State of the Art and Perspectives on IT Infrastructure for SOA, Web 2.0, and Cloud Computing". Dr. Fielding will discuss the changing nature of application development and new architectural styles centered on REST, a term Dr Fielding pioneered in his doctoral dissertation on the topic. Dr Fielding relates these trends to new deployment models based on a SaaS or Cloud Computing model, and highlights some leading examples of REST and a Cloud Computing model with the Apache Jackrabbit and Apache Sling-based Content Repository Extreme (CRX) platform from Day Software.
Day Software Chief Scientist Dr Roy T. Fielding is well known for his work in developing and defining the modern World Wide Web infrastructure. He is the primary architect of the current Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP/1.1), co-author of the Internet standards for HTTP and Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), and a founder of several open-source software projects, including the Apache HTTP Server Project that produces the software for over 60% of public Internet web sites. Dr. Fielding received his Ph.D. degree in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine.
