Rosetta Stone Success with CQ5
Open, Standards-based Content Management Platform CQ5 Accelerates Time-to-Revenue and Delivers 15 Percent IT Budget Savings for Top Language Learning Company
Boston, Massachusetts, June 29, 2010 - Day Software (SIX: DAYN, OTCQX: DYIHY), a provider of open, standards-based content management and content infrastructure software, today announced that Rosetta Stone Inc., a leading provider of technology-based language learning solutions, has chosen Day's award-winning CQ5 platform (http://www.day.com/cq5) as its Web Content Management (WCM) system. CQ5 is a key element of Rosetta Stone's worldwide content strategy in direct-to-consumer markets, providing a single global platform for managing content.
As part of a phased rollout to manage content in key markets, Rosetta Stone deployed CQ5 to its German website in January and to its U.S. site earlier this month. With early efficiencies gained in just the first two rollouts, the company has already experienced significant return on investment, saving 15 percent of its IT budget. Rosetta Stone expects to see additional efficiencies over the next 12-18 months as they continue to implement Day's solution in 10 languages, five currencies and eight strategic international markets including the UK, Japan, Korea and additional EMEA geographies.
Day CQ5 was selected in a competitive bid process against other competitors. According to Matthew Cascio, Director of Web Architecture and eCommerce at Rosetta Stone: "Day CQ5 far outpaced competitors on almost all selection factors, including key metrics on corporate health, product roadmap, product usability, internationalization features, platform extensibility and workflow management."
The authoring environment in Day's WCM is a significant upgrade over the IT-centric content management system that Rosetta Stone used previously. Using CQ5, content authors are able to experiment with multiple options to easily increase sales conversion. "CQ5's authoring environment is light years ahead of competitor systems, allowing business users to work quickly without dependencies on IT processes and resources. This new marketing agility is a key business transformation that Day Software provides," added Cascio.
CQ5 seamlessly integrates with Rosetta Stone's ecommerce platform, sharing product catalog, pricing and promotion management at the server level using Day's Apache Felix framework. Since Day's software is based on well-documented open source projects, Rosetta Stone gained efficiencies in the implementation process through predictable steps that provided a balance of flexibility and speed to market. Rosetta Stone is also using CQ5 for content management in their customer support portal.
"In just a few months, CQ5 is already paying dividends for Rosetta Stone. It's a great example of how marketing is aligning with sales growth and driving revenue via the Web," said Kevin Cochrane, CMO of Day Software. "Development time and costs have been reduced significantly, marketing efforts are better targeted and more timely, and Rosetta Stone is still digging into the many features of CQ5. Going forward, Rosetta Stone will continue to see additional powerful results from CQ5 that were not possible with their prior WCM system."
Rosetta Stone also recently upgraded to Day's segmentation module, allowing the company to perform advanced content targeting, personalization and behavioral analysis automation. Using the segmentation module, Rosetta Stone will be able to identify website visitor needs and automatically deliver the most relevant content to increase conversions.
