Day Receives Critical Acclaim for CQ5

Day Sweeps the Triple Crown with Industry Recognition from KMWorld, InfoWorld, and EContent

Basel, Switzerland and Newport Beach, California – 23 February 2009
– Day Software Holding AG (SWX: DAYN, OTCQX: DYIHY), a leading supplier of Global Content Management Software and Content Infrastructure Software, today announced its sweep of three major industry awards after its successful introduction of its critically-acclaimed Web Content Management platform, CQ5.  Day enters 2009 with strong industry recognition after being named to the EContent 100 Companies that Matter the Most and the KMWorld 100 Companies that Matter in Knowledge Management.  Completing the Triple Crown of industry awards, Day was singled out by InfoWorld in January as the “Best Web CMS” in their 2009 Technology of the Year awards.

Day’s recent accolades follow the successful November 2008 launch of CQ5 and the follow-on release of Day’s ECM platform, CRX 1.4.1.  Together, CQ5 and CRX target the combined needs of both Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) and Chief Information Officers (CIOs) looking to reduce costs, optimize spend, and leverage the Web as the most cost-effective channel for global brand marketing, sales, and self-service.  Targeted at Marketing, CQ5 provides point-and-click ease for building engaging, Web 2.0 sites and customer communities.  Targeted at IT, CRX provides the industry’s leading JSR-170-compliant ECM platform with point-and-click ease for managing a content computing cloud to scalably host any number of content-enabled Web applications.  For the first time, Day’s combined CQ5 and CRX offerings allow CMOs and CIOs to work together to meet 2009 corporate growth initiatives with an ECM platform that meets the needs of both business users and IT.

“CQ5 was a catalyst for Day to reignite the market and drive new customer success,”  said Kevin Cochrane, Chief Marketing Officer for Day Software.  “In 2009, CMOs are looking to optimize their spend by investing in the Web channel and partner with IT to reduce overall operational costs.  CQ5 and CRX hit a sweet-spot in the market as both the most usable and most cost-effective platform for IT and Marketing organizations driving new Web 2.0 initiatives.  These three awards are together are a singular achievement and acknowledgement of the exciting new direction Day is headed with its latest product offerings.”

Day’s recent awards follow earlier recognition for Day’s pioneering efforts and extensive contributions to industry standards and open source.  In Q4 2008, Day was honored with the Swiss Open Source Award 2008 for the efforts of Day’s Chief Scientist, Roy Fielding, and Day’s Chief Technology Officer, David Nuescheler.  Day was recognized for its  contributions to the Apache Software Foundation to advance ECM standards and technologies, including JSR-170 and Apache Jackrabbit and REST and Apache Sling.  Along with other Day open source contributions, Apache Jackrabbit and Apache Sling provide the core infrastructure behind Day’s market-leading CMS offering.

“We are honored by the accolades for our latest release,” said David Nuescheler, Chief Technology Officer of Day Software.  “We look forward to continue the momentum behind CQ5 and CRX with an excitement roadmap and great customer success in 2009.”
