Introducing CQ 5.4 from Adobe - What is new

Introducing CQ 5.4, a robust integrated web experience management platform for improving customer facing web experiences by creating, analyzing, and optimizing site content, marketing campaigns and targeted user experiences across channels. With CQ 5.4, your marketing organization becomes more agile via a highly productive, fun to use, community oriented social authoring environment.

Meeting the requirements for online marketing agility

  • CQ5 Marketing Campaign Management  Marketers can create content, segment visitors, and then push and promote targeted content for specific user profiles, all while managing campaigns across multiple channels. Easily orchestrate campaigns across the web, email, mobile, and social media channels with automated targeting for more personal and consistent conversations.
  • CQ5 Mobile delivers mobile web content as well as native mobile application authoring and editing for feature phones, smartphones and tablets. Automated device detection and optimized content delivery allows the device user to receive content for that specific device. For native applications, features of the device are detected to offer addional hardware services like geolocation support that may be leveraged in campaigns.
  • CQ Targeting out of the box integration with the Online Marketing Suite, powered by Omniture increases sales effectiveness by ensuring consistent training and sales messaging and speeding roll-out of new marketing assets and collateral. CQ5 Digital Asset Management enables marketers to manage a library of approved marketing assets with an optimized user experience for sales staff and channel partners to discover, learn, and use new or updated marketing assets in the sales efforts.
  • CQ5 Web Content Management (WCM) new advancements include:
    • Integrated content and application deployment: Deploy applications in the same way that you deploy content (such as a datasheet) so that the customer facing applications are versioned, synced, and published in the same way using the same system.
    • Advanced Workflow and Annotations: Allows new drag and drop capabilities to add steps and/or users and customize tasks.
    • Advanced Reporting: Using extensible report generators CQ5 users can look at their sites from many perspectives: how many components on a page, which pages have the most content, add  the dimension of time, etc.
    • HTML5 support: Manage video for iPhone, iPad, Android, Web, Flash, and with automatic transcoding. Images on a harddrive can be easily be dragged-and-dropped into your browser.
    • Improved startup times and more seamless upgrades.
  • CQ5 Social Collaboration (SoCo) new advancements include:
    • Forums: A new community space that is tied to the ClickstreamCloud which allows users to load up new profiles and simulate conversations on a moderated forum.

Based on open standards and an open source core based on the Apache Jackrabbit (JSR283-compliant content repository), Sling (RESTful web application framework), Felix (OSGi-compliant Java application framework), Pluto (JSR286-compliant portlet container), and Shindig (OpenSocial-compliant gadget container).  With support for lightweight scripting (Javascript, Actionscript) via the JSR223 scripting standard, CQ 5.4 enables IT to develop standardized developer skill sets and rapidly deliver new marketing-lead initiatives at lower cost.

CQ 5.4 provides out-of-the-box tools for IT developers to rapidly migrate existing sites and bootstrap development of CQX templates. IT developers can create entire new web projects by importing an existing site, defining editable regions, and auto-generating new templates for use by Marketing.

Performance optimization
Built in instrumentation aid IT developers in identifying and correctly any performance bottlenecks in content delivery.  With CQ 5.4, IT developers can access chart summarize overall page generation time included a bar chart to identify the contribution of each component on a web page to overall load performance.

CQ 5.4 delivers true enterprise-class support for mission critical Web 2.0 sites. IT developers can update web content, entire websites, and even server-side application components all without having to rotate, take-down, and restart servers.  CQ 5.4’s zero down-time support also enable full online hot-back-up and hot-join clustering for heavily trafficked sites with minimized impact on site visitor experience.  In addition, CQ 5.4 provides full disaster recovery capabilities from back-up images, enabling IT to in near real-time rebuild entire server machines with simple point-and-click ease within minutes.
